Bodegas Krontiras are Argentina's leading biodynamic winery, located in high altitude Mendoza, in the foothills of the Andes. Their Explore Aglanico is an extremely successful take on this southern Italian grape variety. Aromas of stewed red plum and cherry and hints of meaty spice, with firm structure. A great food wine.

Orders placed before 1pm each day Monday – Friday will be despatched the same day as long as the stock is in immediate availability. For some items, we may need to get stock from our stores which could delay despatch by 1 day (2 days in some situations)
Items in stock will be despatched on the same day and delivered via courier. This will usually be delivered on the following working day but please allow one extra day if this is not possible. Deliveries to Scotland & non UK mainland will usually be delivered in 2-3 working days.
We charge a flat fee of £6.90 for delivery if your order is under 20kg and £10 inc-VAT if the order is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £100 (inc VAT).
We aim to ship items within the same working day but always within 2 working days, subject to the order being placed before 1pm and subject to the availability of stock. *If stock is not available at our warehouse and needs to come back from one of our stores before we ship to you, your order may take up to 5 working days to be shipped – whether that is to your delivery address or to one of our stores.
We want all our cusomers to be 100% happy with their order and it is our aim to ensure that all orders are supplied to our customers arrive in perfect condition. You have the right to cancel your order at any time without being charged for the goods ordered within 14 days of purchase.

If you call us after your item has shipped, we will be unable to cancel it and you will need to return to us. "Bodegas Krontiras was established by Greek couple Silvina and Constantinos in 2004 to make pure, terroir-driven expressions of Argentinean wines. In high altitude Mendoza they purchased ancient 120-year-old vineyard in the high-quality Perdriel sector Lujan de Cuyo and established a new vineyard in Maipu. Both were rapidly converted to organics in 2009, before becoming fully biodynamic in 2012; one of the first wineries in Argentina to achieve this. Since 2015 they have been experimenting with zero sulphur addition wines, and now produce a pair of excellent reds by this method, in addition to more conventionally produced (albeit biodynamic) wines. In addition to Malbec, they make some old vine Tempranillo, Petit Verdot and a brilliant Aglianico, which they have planted widely and seems quite at home in Mendoza.
The winery has been built along biodynamic principles, using straw for insulation and biodynamic geometric principles based on “sacred geometry” to enhance the gentle evolution of the wines. Winemaker Maricruz Antolín is widely regarded as a rising star of the Argentinean wine scene, tipped by Tim Atkin MW as a talent to watch in his recent review of the region. The winery contains conical stainless steel tanks to aid seamless extraction and a combination of 225 and 500 ltr French oak barrels. Where oak is used, it plays only a supporting role to the exceptional quality fruit coming in from the vineyards.
All the wines are certified both Biodynamic and Vegan, with a focus on elegance and purity in a varied range of styles.
Kontiras have substantial plantings of the Southern Italian grape variety Aglianico, which on the evidence of this wine seems to be extremely well suited to the local terroir. Hand-harvested and aged for 18 months in first and second-use French oak barrels. Earthy, spicy nose with gamey stewed red plum and cherry, mocha and blueberry with slightly wild ferrous notes.
